Since 1 July 2021, how long is paternity leave?
Answer. 25 days, 32 days for multiple births, on top of the 3 days of birth leave.
25 jours (32 jours pour des naissances multiples), en plus des 3 jours de congé de naissance.
Since 1 July 2021, paternity and childcare leave lasts 25 calendar days. With the 3 days of birth leave, the father or the second parent can therefore take 28 days off. Since 1 July 2026, an additional birth leave has also existed for children born since 1 January 2026.
The official text that proves it
« bénéficient d'un congé de paternité et d'accueil de l'enfant de vingt-cinq jours calendaires ou de trente-deux jours calendaires en cas de naissances multiples. »
are entitled to paternity and childcare leave of twenty five calendar days, or thirty two calendar days in the case of multiple births.
