Where must you register the birth of a child?
Answer. At the mairie of the place of birth.
À la mairie du lieu de naissance.
The birth is registered at the mairie of the commune where the child was born, within 5 days. The registrar then draws up the birth certificate.
The official text that proves it
« La déclaration de naissance doit être faite à la mairie du lieu de naissance. Elle permet à l'officier d'état civil d'établir l' acte de naissance de l'enfant. »
The birth declaration must be made at the mairie of the place of birth. It allows the registrar to draw up the child's birth certificate.
