What reason for absence is accepted by the school?
Answer. The child's illness, as long as it is justified by the parents.
La maladie de l’enfant, justifiée par les parents.
Parents must give the school the reason for the absence right away. The law accepts the child's illness, a contagious illness in the family, a major family gathering such as a wedding or a funeral, an unexpected transport problem, or a short trip by the parents when the child goes with them. Going on holiday during term time is not an accepted reason. Pick the answer choice that matches one of these reasons.
The official text that proves it
« Les seuls motifs réputés légitimes sont les suivants : maladie de l'enfant, maladie transmissible ou contagieuse d'un membre de la famille, réunion solennelle de famille, empêchement résultant de la difficulté accidentelle des communications, absence temporaire des personnes responsables lorsque les enfants les suivent. »
The only reasons considered legitimate are the following, the child's illness, a transmissible or contagious illness of a family member, a formal family gathering, an inability to attend resulting from an accidental transport difficulty, and a temporary absence of the responsible adults when the children go with them.
