What must an employer do when setting a salary?
Answer. Pay at least the SMIC, the legal minimum wage (and the minimum set by the applicable collective bargaining agreement).
Respecter au minimum le SMIC (et le salaire minimum prévu par la convention collective).
An employer cannot pay an employee below the SMIC. A collective bargaining agreement may set a higher minimum wage, which the employer must also respect.
