In what situations should you go to the hospital emergency room?

Answer. In a serious emergency, for example an accident, a serious injury or a serious health scare.

En cas d’urgence grave, par exemple un accident, une blessure grave ou un malaise grave.

The hospital emergency room is reserved for serious situations. For a minor problem, you go to your médecin traitant instead. If there is a life threatening danger, you call the 15.

« Les services d’urgence sont ouverts 24h/24 et 7j/7 afin de prendre en charge les urgences vitales et les blessures graves qui nécessitent une prise en charge immédiate. »

Emergency services are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to handle life threatening emergencies and serious injuries that need immediate care.
