Quelle est la place de la langue française dans la République ?

Answer. French is the language of the Republic, written into the Constitution. It is the only official language.

Le français est la langue de la République, inscrite dans la Constitution. C'est la seule langue officielle.

Since 1992, the Constitution has stated that the language of the Republic is French. It is used at school, in administration and before the courts.

French is therefore the only official language in France. It is used in schools, administration, justice and, more broadly, in public life.
