What is the duty of remembrance?
Answer. Remembering the tragic events of the past and their victims, so as not to repeat them.

The duty of remembrance consists of passing on the memory of wars, the Shoah or slavery. It is taught in particular at school and during commemorations.
The official text that proves it
« On étudie aujourd’hui la Shoah à l’école pour comprendre les conséquences de la haine, du racisme et de l’antisémitisme , et pour rappeler l’importance du devoir de mémoire . »
The Shoah is studied in schools today to understand the consequences of hatred, racism and antisemitism, and to recall the importance of the duty of remembrance.
