Regarding the limits on individual freedoms, which statement is correct?
Answer. Freedom consists of being able to do anything that does not harm others, and it is the law that sets its limits.
La liberté consiste à pouvoir faire tout ce qui ne nuit pas aux autres, et c'est la loi qui en fixe les limites.
Everyone is free as long as they do not harm others. Only the law can set the limits of a freedom.
The official text that proves it
« La liberté consiste à pouvoir faire tout ce qui ne nuit pas à autrui : ainsi, l'exercice des droits naturels de chaque homme n'a de bornes que celles qui assurent aux autres membres de la société la jouissance de ces mêmes droits. »
Liberty consists of being able to do anything that does not harm others. Thus, the exercise of the natural rights of each man has no limits except those that ensure to the other members of society the enjoyment of these same rights.
