Abortion (IVG) has been permitted in France since the 1975 Veil law. In 2024, the freedom to have an abortion was written into the Constitution.

« La loi détermine les conditions dans lesquelles s’exerce la liberté garantie à la femme d’avoir recours à une interruption volontaire de grossesse. »
The law determines the conditions under which the freedom guaranteed to women to have recourse to a voluntary termination of pregnancy is exercised.
