In France, what is the State allowed to fund?
Answer. A private school under contract with the State, for its running costs.
Public money can fund a private school under contract. The State pays the teachers, and local authorities pay for running the classrooms. As a rule, the State funds no religion, with a few exceptions such as Alsace Moselle, chaplaincies, or the upkeep of churches built before 1905.
The official text that proves it
The running costs of classes under contract are covered under the same conditions as those of the corresponding classes in public education.
In French, with its English meaning.
To be confirmed against the four options shown on exam day, which the ministry does not publish.
