Laïcité is a constitutional principle. Article 1 of the Constitution states that France is a secular Republic.
The official text that proves it
« La laïcité n'est pas une opinion : c'est un principe constitutionnel. L'article 1 de la Constitution de 1958 précise que "La France est une République indivisible, laïque, démocratique et sociale". »
Laïcité is not an opinion, it is a constitutional principle. Article 1 of the 1958 Constitution states that "France is an indivisible, secular, democratic and social Republic".
