When must you register your child with the registry office?
Answer. Within 5 days of the birth.
Dans les 5 jours qui suivent la naissance.
The birth is registered at the mairie of the place of birth within 5 days. The father, the mother, or a person present at the birth can carry out this step.
The official text that proves it
« La déclaration de naissance est obligatoire. Elle doit être réalisée dans les 5 jours qui suivent la naissance, par le père, la mère ou par une personne qui a assisté à l’accouchement. »
Registering a birth is compulsory. It must be done within 5 days of the birth, by the father, the mother, or a person who was present at the birth.
